Ever since I began in education my knowledge in planning and implementing lessons in the classroom, classroom management, designing curriculum and pure motivation have grown immensely. My understanding of teaching multiple intelligences in my classroom has deepened as well as expanded my knowledge. As an alumnus of Caldwell College now University, as well as an alumnus of Seton Hall Preparatory School, I understand the morals, discipline, and lifestyles taught within the walls of any great school. I have received my B.A. in Social Studies and Education, as well as my Masters (M.A.) in Educational Leadership/Administration.
My first two years I was the Physical Education Teacher for grades Pre-K-8th Grade, molding the students mentally and physically in everyday physical education classes. In 2012, I became the 5th and 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher, teaching on all levels of American History in the 5th grade and Ancient World History in the 6th Grade. I could do that along with continuing to still teach Physical Education at the same time. In 2013, I became the 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher, as well as 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher, 8th Grade Reading Teacher, 6th Grade Religion Teacher, and continue to teach Physical Education to the entire school. Doing all of this has given me the talents, education, and morals that I feel are needed to have a successful classroom environment, where learning and excellence are formed.
I believe that to be an outstanding School Leader one must have the passion, determination and discipline to complete any task that is set in front of them. It takes a person with patience and focus to succeed as a School Leader and hold a strong and focused School Community. It is the job of the Principal to mentor, guide, and direct the students on to the correct path of life as a leader in the world. I know what is important to make a strong educational community, as well as a strong Catholic Community, not only as an educator in the Catholic School Community, but also as a former Youth Minister a position I held for ten years. I have been the Physical Education Coordinator for St. Thomas the Apostle School, as well as the Elementary School Social Studies Coordinator, Religion Coordinator for the Middle School, and ELA Coordinator for the Elementary School. I assisted in the Middle States Accreditation for the School.
All of this that I have done and continue to do in my life have helped mold me into the person, educator, and mentor that I have always wanted to become. I understand the roles of the classroom for all ages and grades; I hold the discipline and determination to complete any task that I set out to do. My educational experience and Alternate Route Experience have prepared me well to lead and maintain any educational environment.
As Principal in a catholic school the academic leadership, as well as the overall "physical building control" is on my shoulders, any building project, upgrade, even custodial work is under my watch. I love every second of what I do every day and I wouldn't trade it in for the world.
And if you are wondering...yes the rumors are true...I am an avid Jets fan. I am raising my son to be one as well!!
What Makes Holy Trinity School Special?
Holy Trinity School offers a faith based academic curriculum which includes the arts to provide a well rounded education. Our staff are trained to provide an enriching educational program that can be adapted to each individual child's learning needs. Students are evaluated on feedback from assignments, observation, and Map Growth achievement scores.
So what makes us different? We are blessed to have on staff a Learning Consultant and staff members who are able to "push in" to assist students who need a little assistance. We offer middle school students opportunities during a in school activity period to explore other talents. Our middle school students and those in grade 4, use chromebooks in school with Google Classroom to enhance course work. Our younger students use iPads to increase comprehension with math and language arts. Our older students mentor younger students and we gather in faith families after monthly masses. Our PreSchool students are provided with activities that enhance social and motor skills.
And that is just part of what makes us unique. Call for a visit and see the positive learning environment of Holy Trinity School.
Holy Trinity pray for us!
God Bless,
Mr. Michael Petrillo M.ED.
