I have been teaching pre-school at Holy Trinity for over 18 years. I started the 4+ program and was instrumental in the development of the Early Childhood Program at the Mountainside campus.
My philosophy for teaching PreK is to provide a loving and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable, safe and eager to learn. PreK is the child's first exposure to school and they can develop certain feelings, perceptions and ideas that will follow them through their school careers. It is important to nurture the child's creativity and curiosity while creating an environment of playful learning. I want my classroom to be a place where children are excited to come to everyday to learn and have fun being with their teachers and friends.
One of my favorite activities with the children is our FairyTale theme. During this time, the children read many of our best loved fairy tales, create a fairy tale land and act out the stories for their friends. This lesson incorporates literacy, comprehension, math and science while letting the children immerse themselves in the fairy tales.
Religion also plays a big part of our school day. Each morning is started with a prayer and the children learn Bible stories, the importance of being kind and how much God loves them. At Christmas, the children reenact the Nativity Play which is the highlight of the season. By learning the story and practicing
