Centennial Gala Silent Auction is Open

The Centennial Committee is excited to announce that the Centennial Gala will feature a silent auction of more than 20 amazing prizes — from golf outings to museum packages, sports memorabilia, and a vacation house, to a White House tour and more. The auction will be run entirely electronically at http://www.blueandgold.org/auction. Bidding starts now and will run through 9:45 p.m. Friday night. You don’t even need to be present to participate. Those bidding remotely will be bidding at the same time as those attending the event.

nov-prayerWednesday, November 2nd, was the Feast of All Soul’s Day. During November we remember all of our deceased loved ones in prayer. A Prayer Request Note was included in your Thursday Envelope. Please complete and return it to school. The individual names of the deceased will not be announced, but will be referred to in morning prayer.

Please remember that tomorrow, Friday, November 4th, is an early dismissal day at both campuses:  MC- PK @ 11:30 and K @ Noon and WC @ 12:15. (The faculty needs to be at the Archdiocesan Center in Newark by 1:30pm.)

stay-and-play-msAs families begin thinking about registration for the next school year, we ask you to share the good news about Holy Trinity School.  Please share the attached information with your neighbors, friends and families.  We would love to have you join us at the Mountainside Campus Open House (Breakfast Story Time)  on Sunday, November 6, 10:00a.m.-12:00 p.m. and bring a friend!! If you already have plans for Sunday, perhaps you could join us for one of our Stay & Play Enrichment Days on November 11th or 30th, or January 23rd?

 spotlightGrade 2 – In the spotlight: Beginning last month, a new series, “HTS Spotlight”, was introduced . It will provide families, friends, and the broader community a closer look into the many wonderful attributes of Holy Trinity School.  Each month the HTS Spotlight will focus on a grade or activity.  This month, we spotlight the Holy Trinity School 2nd grade.  We encourage families to read the monthly HTS Spotlight and to share them. box-topsThe Westfield Campus Box Top Challenge runs from Nov. 7 – Nov. 14. PLEASE remember to cut/trim your BOX TOPS  (ripped/torn edges cannot be submitted) and give them to your homeroom teachers during the collection period. The first place homeroom will receive a tag day and pizza party, 2nd place homeroom will have a bagel breakfast,  and the homeroom with the highest number of box tops per student will get cupcakes.


childrens-spec-hospitalPlease Support the 5th Grade Girl Scout Troop40402 in a Sticker and Supply Drive they are running to Benefit the Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside. From November 7th through November 30th,  the Troop is collecting items given as rewards to the  hospital patients by the therapists.
Donations of fun Children’s Stickers and/or Supplies (specifically Bubbles, Playdoh, and Large Crayons) are desired.  The Collection Box will be in the School Lobby, Westfield Campus, until November 30th.  The drive assists the girls in the troop in earning their Bronze Award.  Thank you for your support!!

 union-countyThe Westfield Municipal Alliance is hosting The 4th Annual Municipal Alliance Palooza in celebration of Nation Red Ribbon Week. In Coordination with the Parent Teacher Council, The WHS Dream Team, Prevention Links, The Union County Department of Human Services the Division of Planning, and the NJ Governor’s Council of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.  The Mission of the Westfield Municipal Alliance is to engage residents, local government and law enforcement officials, schools, nonprofit organizations, the faith community, parents, youth, and other allies, in efforts to prevent alcoholism and drug abuse in our community.

Students in grades K-5, are invited to participate in the poster contest while students in grades 6-8 are invited to participate in the poetry contest. The theme of both contests is “A Day of Service Leads to A Life of Service.” There is also a specific invitation for 4th graders to participate in the NJ Partnership for a Drug Free America, “4th Grade Folder Challenge.”  Please note the attached for more information.

pie saleLast Call: This Thanksgiving let Delicious Orchards do the baking…The 8th graders are hosting a holiday pie sale from Delicious Orchards. Pies must be pre-ordered for $ 16.00/pie and will be available for pickup on Tuesday, November 22nd between 2 and 4pm in the gym. Final order date is Wednesday, November 9th.

If you want to share a pie with a needy family, you can also “order and donate” to the HT Food Pantry or Loaves & Fishes in Linden.


Last Call: Yankee Candle catalogs are here.  Catalog Sales end November 4. Catalog orders will be delivered 2-4 weeks from receipt of order.

clothing driveIt’s Time Again to Clean out Your Closets ~ The HTS semi-annual used clothing and toy drive will be held rain or shine December 3rd ( Not Nov. 12th)   from 8 a.m. to noon, next to the playground on Watterson Street. The event is a fund-raiser for the school and provides an opportunity to donate the following types of gently used textiles: clothes, bedding, curtains, cloth tablecloths and other linens. Additionally, shoes, handbags, and new or gently used stuffed animals and toys will be collected. We don’t accept books or household items. Questions can be sent to hsa@htisnj.com.

photo-dayWC School Photos are going home today… Lifetouch guarantees your satisfaction, so if you are unhappy with your photos, please return them to school and have your photo retaken on November 21st. If you paid for photos and didn’t receive them, also plan on having your photo retaken on November 21st.

booksText book order forms are included in your Thursday Envelopes. Please complete one for each of your children in grades PK3- 8. These forms are used toward the purchase of text books funded by the NJ Private School Textbook Entitlement Grant.

no parkingAfternoon pickup at Westfield- please be reminded that if you park in the Watterson Street commuter parking lot, you must park in a legitimate parking spot and NOT block the commuters’ cars. Please consider this a warning; the next step is a ticket.  

PGCProtecting God’s Children Workshop Schedule: all school volunteers and class trip chaperones are required to complete a sexual abuse awareness program that is being held throughout the Archdiocese.  To register online for an upcoming workshop date, please go to rcan.org and return the certificate of attendance to the school office after completing the program.

All new families received information and paperwork about this program. Please complete and return to the school office. If you are a returning parent, you are now required to be retrained (online) annually or in person by attending a new workshop every three years &   to have a new background check every five years. Please contact the school office if you need this paperwork or if you have any questions about the program.


basketballSports physicals are required on ALL students in grades 6 – 8 who wish to participate in school sponsored athletics.  Students can not be cleared to participate until the complete sports physical is on file in the nurse’s office.    Please visit the HTS website for the complete sports physical requirements.
